This is how I fixed my problem. I have SpyBot on my computer. After it's new version
came out, it included some sort of resident that ran all the time preventing "viruses
and spyware from installing itself" or something like that. It worked great, however,
it stopped MY programs from starting up. I'm guessing if you have some antiviral
or antispyware programs, especially if they are the only ones starting up, then go
ahead and fix the problem there. I did that with SpyBot, and all my programs started
up just like it did before. I even have my volume control!
