Read this page: It describes *exactly* what I went through last year with this exact
model of machine. Forgive me for saying it was XP - it was actually SP2 that started
the problems. And it seemed to happen after the defrag operation, which is why I
quit defragging once the system started losing stability. It took a lot of googling
to even find this page, but I'm so thankful that this guy put it up, b/c it gave
me the answer.
