You're a genius!
Not only does this work for my list of annoying programs (Skype, iTunes) but it answers
the accusation in the original post. Evidently, there really isn't a serious problem
with Windows Installer. The problem is in the creation of shortcuts (of course, I
suppose it could be Windows Installer that is creating those shortcuts). I'm on
Vista using Office 2007. There are no issues with the Installer running with Office
only the 3rd party programs mentioned above.
