Force cooling fans to run while on AC?

Hello all, I have a Compaq Presario M2000 notebook running a fresh install of XP Service Pack 2, and I was wondering if there was a way to force the processor cooling fan to stay on constantly. The top of the computer gets pretty warm when I'm using it out in the garage (no air conditioning out there) and I'd like to play it safe if possible. Especially given the fact that Compaq's aren't exactly renowned for hardware reliability, lol. Thanks!
