THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!
I simply chose a preset power profile from the power options in Control Panel, and
wonders above wonders, my fans switch off in stand-by mode.
(I chose "Minimal Power Management" and then changed my display and hard-drive timeouts
to what they were.)
