Most likely hardware failure. But t it could be a software problem. In either case,
you will have to try another method to fix the problem. You may want to make an "image"
of the disk with a third party program that can copy or backup the whole drive onto
another drive. Then try to repair the system using the original install CD. If that
fails, you would still have the backup eith you stuff on it.
