Weird XP network problem, please help

I spent two hours trying to fix this problem and am throwing the towel.
my network description:
two laptops, a Maxtor network drive, a brother network printer. they are all connected
thru the Linksys router.
this morning, i took one of my laptop away to work and when i came back, i plug the
ethernet cable and i am on the internet surfing, no problem, then i tried to open
my network drive, can't do it, says it can't locate it, try to print, can't print.
but i am on the internet.......whatta?
my other laptop is working fine though, can print and open the network drive.
What seems to be the problem here? anyone?
