Windows file search starts by itself

Hi! Whenever the windows file search "Start" --> "Search" --> "For Files and Folders" detects that a file/directory has been modified, the search starts again. For this reason, when I search a network share at work, the search will never finish, because files are constantly being modified by users. How can I disable this terrible annoyance? I want the search to scan the disk only once. Thanks
