Some of the turntables being marketed as being able to transfer albums to CD through
a sound card have an RIAA EQ preamp built in, but you have to check the specs and
documentation to make sure as they may still need an additional preamp. If this
is the case, you will overload the phono preamp in an outboard preamp/amp stereo
unit. They are however, pretty disappointing for the most part. (especially the
ones that go for under well under $100 or so) Some of the cartridges in them are
pretty low quality from my observation, the stylus is to wide and the tracking weight
to heavy for my vintage albums.. :-(.
