This is most likely an application error (VBS or XML) or malware - unlikely to be 
XP itself.

Have a look at what applications are running when you get the error and see if you 
can correlate that ?

If it happens when your browser is open, try turning off script-checking.

Worth doing a malware scan anyway - I would post here.
