On a regular XP CD after you Accept the License Agreement and the install CD will 
search for any existing Windows installations.

It would show the Partition the XP installation is on. You highlight the installation 
and then Hit the R key on the Keyboard if I remember., not sure if Dell CD's are 
the same.

You might go to Dells Web site, and find the FAQ'a on how to do a Repair.
