Are these recovery CD's from a big OEM manufacturer or are they MS type install CD's??
Usually to avoid headaches you need to use the CD that came with the computer (or
an install identical type) so a reinstall may be your only option. Without being
able to physically see what you have, I can't do much from a forum as far as good
advice. There are multiple possibilities. Some can't be activated by net or phone
now so it is important to use what came with the machine and go by the manufacturers
instructions for recovery or reinstallation as you may not have the option of activation,
if it is a preactivated install from the manufacturer. (Just one "for instance")
