An OEM copy of the OS usually means that the PC itself carries a label on the side panel, or perhaps elsewhere, with the proper Code Number displayed thereon. There was never any such thing as a "98 Computer", and there is not now any such thing as an "XP Computer".

There are simply various kinds of computers on which a variety of Operating System software may be installed; for the past ten years or so, the most common type has been the "Personal Computer" of the 'WinTel' sort, using an "X86" processor, and one or another version of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

If you still have an old "PC" that has had Windows98 as its operating system, it is possible that by using "Safe Mode", you may be able to run the magical Jelly Bean utility that extracts the Windows Code Number from the OS's Registry files. But the XP forum is the wrong place for that question.
