Missing Windows Logo startup screens after CMOS battery replacement.

Microsoft has just released Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. It is a cumulative SP and includes all previous updates. Q: Should I install it or not? Q: Will it uninstall all the previous updates? Q: Can I uninstall previous updates if MS does not? Ron

After replacing the CMOS battery on my intel motherboard I have lost the Windows Logo startup screens and the beginning screens which indicate which F-Keys to press to enter BIOS ets. System holds black screen for a short time them goes to desktop.
