One of the huge issues with peer to peer networking is permission problems. There are three basic things to do that will basically ensure you won't have this issue. Before checking these three things, make sure simple file sharing is turned off. #1) Create user accounts on all three PCs with the exact same username and password. #2) Set the "share" permissions (the permissions under the sharing tab) to allow "everyone" full control. #3) For "NTFS" permissions (Under the "security" tab), make sure that the username that you created on all three PCs is added and allowed full control. For more security you can remove "everyone" permissions, or fine tune other permissions here. Remember, that by default, Windows XP does NOT allow logins using blank passwords over a network. So, all accounts need to have passwords created. Make sure that you are logged in with an account and password that has been created on all three PCs, and your access to file shares will be secure and seemless. If the user account is not valid, or permission problems exist in either the "sharing" or "NTFS" permissions then you will continue to get a login screen.

On a side note, Norton is NOTORIOUS for screwing with file and printer sharing. I can not tell you how many frustrating times I have had to screw with that software because it has messed up sharing when it absolutely should not have.. It has at least two, if not more different things that screw with sharing. The firewall is only one of them. The best thing you could do is turn off every single thing Norton offers for a firewall, or so called "worm" protection. If you are behind a router you have no use for a firewall. To be honest I can't stand that software because they stick their hands in everything, and if you turn off one single element it complains about your computer not being protected, with no options to turn off the compaining.
