Try right-clicking and 'Saving As' to the Desktop (for example) and then opening 
it.

I would also uninstall Adobe Reader and download and install Foxit Reader 2.3 for 
Windows. It is also free, however, it is a much smaller download and a much smaller 
footprint: -
