You're not looking for help I guess.
#1) I didn't say Norton is your problem.. Most likely it is not your problem.. I'm
just saying, in my experience, every single time it has screwed up file sharing.
The first thing I would do, without question, is shut that worthless software off.
#2) Being behind a home router and being behind the dozens of other routers on the
internet are two totally different things. If you are behind a router at home, you
are using NAT (network address translation), none of your PCs on your network have
a public IP address. Which means if I'm a hacker I can't get to any of them. I
can only attack the router, which wouldn't do me a lot of good would it? If you
are behind an ISPs router, you still have a public IP address.
You said you have a username/pass in common between the two machines. Did you also
check the sharing and NTFS permissions as I told you to do? This will produce the
same results as a bad username/password combination if they are incorrect.
