Help! Worm or What??

Here`s the deal, I had the Sasser Worm infect my pc. Pc was shutting down, programs
closing, etc. I located this
Sasser worm file "avserv2.exe" and deleted it.

I`ve gone through the registry and deleted any signs of the worm but I still get
the shutdowns and the warning
window just as if I did on my old harddrive.I`ve ran 3 or 4 different malwares programs
and 3 different virus
scans, nothing shows up. Bought a new harddrive (wanted one anyway), new power supply
and the pc still
restarts on it`s own and cannot install any windows updates or load programs onto
my pc without error codes and
restarts. I`ve reloaded Windows Xp 3 times this past week.
I also used 2
other harddrives on 2 different motherboards and it`s the same results. Sounds crazy
but it`s true. Any ideas?
Can a motherboard or the memory sticks be infected somehow?
