If you mean the text on the screen, of course it looks smaller.
The text has a given fixed size in pixels but the high resolution
monitor setting has more pixels than the previous 800x600
setting, so everything displayed on it uses a smaller proportion
of the total pixels now available. 

Conversely, the monitor can now display larger pages with more
content on them.
