Hi. I have an HP Pavilion running XP SP2. I was playing around with it yesterday because it was running funny. The CD-drive would randomly run for no apparent reason (no disc in the drive). I noticed it was running rather slow, also. I ran msconfig, ultimately never changing anything. The built-in mouse also experienced some problems (the scroll "wheel" stopped working). I rolled back the driver back.

The next day (this morning) the mouse just didn't work. So I installed an extra USB mouse I had, and then rolled back the computer a couple of days. The built-in mouse worked as it should have. After the mouse problem was fixed, I ran the defragger (JKDefrag...which I use on several computers, never had a problem) and CCleaner. The computer was shut off some time later.

This evening however, when we went to turn it on, it did, but as soon as Windows loaded, it went to a blue screen and rebooted. Tried loading safe mode, but the same story. I went into BIOS, ran the disk checker, and it said FAILED #1-07 or something to that effect.

Does anyone know what's happening and if it's fixable?
