Here's why and how to solve it

This problem is one I see everywhere. What is happening is that when explorer starts,
there are still system services in the process of starting, along with all the applications
that are set to start at login time. These processes are all competing for processor
time in an asynchronous melee of activity and are almost falling over each other
in what is called a "race condition". What is required as a definitive fix is a method
for delaying the startup of your applications while the system services are starting,
then only allowing the applications to start synchronously i.e. one after another
with a time lag in between. Once properly set up, the system tray icons will always
appear in the same right-to-left order on the display. The software you need to set
this up is Startup Delayer from r2 studios. With this, you can set each application
to start after a time interval you specify. It rather depends on how fast/slow your
PC is, but it seems to be good to delay the start of the first application by at
least 30 seconds on any machine. What the software does is remove the application
startup entries from the registry and keep them in it's own database, replacing all
the startup entries in the registry with just a single one for itself. It then releases
each application to start after the specified delay. Simple but effective. Some applications
have a habit of replacing their registry startup entry if it is deleted, but Startup
Delayer can notice that condition and advise accordingly. Problem solved after how
many years? Cheers. Spexx.
You are not paranoid. They really do have it in for you.
