This is probably just my ignorance.. But, when you say you downgraded from Vista to XP, what exactly did you do? If there's a way to "revert" back to XP from Vista, it sure doesn't sound like something you should actually do. Your best bet here is to reformat the hard drive and install a fresh copy of XP.
