I tend to agree with you, and question the improvement in performance. Its my understanding that an IDE drive, and an equivalent model SATA drive are going to give you nearly identical transfer rates. Both IDE and SATA are much faster than the hard drive, and you can only read and write data so fast off a physically moving device regardless of how fast you transmit that data down the wire. Anybody with any other opinions?
