I managed to find one other pertinent link about this on a French-speaking forum.
One case mentions getting the same error message when starting SecondLife
with an associated read error on smime3.dll and the advice was to re-install the
software package. There was no follow-up to the advice given so I can't say if that
worked or not. The file smime3.dll is something to do with MIME and the only version
of it on my PC is in the Program Files\Firefox folder so that probably is not relevant
in your case. The dll file is included with a number of browsers and some Sun products
