You can't be certain it's not a virus/malware, and that's often the cause for strange 
Explorer behavior. If you can recall the last thing done, any changes made, etc., 
prior to this, that may also give us a clue.

Is there anything you can recall doing, such as installing new software? Have you 
tried simply rebooting/restarting your system, since? Do you have System Restore 
enabled? What, if anything, have you tried so far? The more info. the better.
