My first impression with this was flaky RAM - the prime reason for mysterious lockups
- but your config could be a fair bit more efficient too. Install the two HDs on
different IDE channels as master devices and make the CD drives slave devices on
each IDE channel. Put your pagefile on the first partition of the second HD and make
it the first file ever created on that partition - this will ensure that the file
is placed on the very fastest part of the disk. Having the two HDs on different IDE
channels will help to interleave disk I/O operations in the most efficient way and
might alleviate the symptoms. For confidence, I would run a memory diagnostic anyway
and start tapping the memory modules with the plastic end of a screwdriver while
the diagnostic is running to see if it fails (it should survive). Download Microsoft
