Thus far...

Installed and run WinASO. Eliminated 772 registry errors.
Defragged the disk
Detected and removed 4.82GB of unauthorised downloads in one of my stepson's hidden 
folders. One of those was a virus - something called "shooting_game.exe"
Performed disk clean up.
Optimised the settings.
Currently running a thorough AVG scan.
