Recycle Bin Not Showing Full

Whenever I dispose of files into the Recycle Bin, the icon does not change from an
empty icon to a full one. But in the Recycle Bin folder are all the deleted files
and they can be deleted with no change in the icon (ie. still empty icon). Any way
to fix this?
