Very frustrating! My neighbour, my drinking buddy and myself are all agreed that
it is definitely a flaky hardware problem. It worked once - it doesn't now, so that
conclusion is inescapable. If hardware diagnostics do not show up any problem, it
is time to get clever with it. I am assuming that you are booting from CD to install
XP. There is an alternative, slower method that allows you to see exactly where it
falls over - bootable set of floppies
(6 disks required) - it runs much slower so you can see exactly what driver is being
loaded before it will BSOD on you. That might give a better clue. Hope this helps.
