Have you installed any new hardware? If so, look at it first.

Otherwise, you may have bad spots on your disk, particularly the swap file (virtual 
memory). Try "Run --> chkdsk c: /r". This will take a long time, run it before going 
to bed.

chkdsk = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265/en-us

If chkdsk doesn't help, look for a bad device/driver. Start in safe mode and see 
if you can run a scan from there.
