Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 1:48 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by bela okmix (70 messages posted) I reinstalled XP with great trepidation -- questions are so misleading, I fear triggering a disk reformat with every step! -- but somehow I muddled thru it. Then spent 3 or 4 overnights DLing updates SP2, a few random intermediaries, and SP3. Wherein I tried to DL a few MORE random updates (I saw 9 left; one of them was IE7, but I didn't really notice what the other 8 were), and my XP locked up again! ReREinstalled it, spent another week reDLing SP2/intermediaries/SP3, but now I am scared to death to proceed with the other 9 (may be 10 or 11 by now). Is there some "known" issue with one of the recent updates? I'm getting by with the PC as is right now, so I'm not inclined to EVER finish off the updates unless someone can clear up what's happening. Thanks. Responses to this message: re: fatal update?
