Sorry about the 3 threads.  I actually have about *12* issues following the dual 
reinstalls, but I'll leave it at 3 for now.

> SP3 is effectively SP2 plus all the updates since that was released, so you could save some time there! One would think so, but Automatic Updates offered up SP2, some intermediary things, and SP3, and a few more things, in that order. I note that all of the updates PRIOR to SP2 were properly bundled THERE...so why not everything up to SP3? I dunno.
> Do you have either of those bits of software installed? Cheers. Spexx. Had ZoneAlarm at time of re(re)installs. Wouldn't have minded if updates had broken *that* -- my issue was with updates breaking XP itself!! :(
