OK. Quite apart from updates breaking Zonealarm, Zonealarm can also interfere with updates too. Regarding the issue of the time it takes to install all the updates, it is possible to create a Windows Installation disk with SP2 and SP3 included using a technique called slipstreaming. I believe there is a lot of information here at Annoyances.org about that for reference. It might be quickest to reinstall once more using a slipstreamed CD instead of starting with SP1 (which is what I assume you have) and updating. If you can't build a slipstreamed CD, at least reinstall Windows and all the updates "bare bones" with just the Windows firewall enabled, before installing any other software products. That will lessen the chances of anything screwing up during the process. hope this helps. Cheers. Spexx.
