OK. Quite apart from updates breaking Zonealarm, Zonealarm can also interfere with
updates too. Regarding the issue of the time it takes to install all the updates,
it is possible to create a Windows Installation disk with SP2 and SP3 included using
a technique called slipstreaming. I believe there is a lot of information here at
Annoyances.org about that for reference. It might be quickest to reinstall once more
using a slipstreamed CD instead of starting with SP1 (which is what I assume you
have) and updating. If you can't build a slipstreamed CD, at least reinstall Windows
and all the updates "bare bones" with just the Windows firewall enabled, before installing
any other software products. That will lessen the chances of anything screwing up
during the process. hope this helps. Cheers. Spexx.
