I am haveing the same problem as a user in a previouse thread. About six weeks ago my add or remove programs buttons came up missing in my control panel for most of my programs. At the same time all of my system restore points were lost. I went to the registry to manually change the uninstall string for the programs I wanted out but the strings were also missing? OK, after many hours of searching for an answer the only thing I have come up with is merging the registry hive from a backup file, which is not there of course!! So here is my question. I have created a dual boot by installing the exact same OS and leaving it RAW. Nothing has been downloaded or installed on this drive except the OS. CAN I merger this registry or the missing uninstall string from this registry with the registry on the drive that is missing the uninstall commands with out damageing or losing any data from the drive I am haveing the problem with???? I am hopeing this will work as I have a lot of programs I do not want to lose and can not aquire any more. Thanks for any suggestions. I forgot to mention that the OS is Windows XP Pro 32 bit
