Print Spooler conflict

Hi, I have a problem I havent come accross before. A friends pc that is running XP
home has a conflict issue with the print spooler and some software he uses to create
a news letter.

The software is Broderbund publisher 1997 and it uses the file extension psp (print
shop press) not paint shop pro. When the spooler service is started the software
will load but the files will not load into it and the software freezes. When I turn
of print spooler service the software runs fine.

I have uninstalled all the printer drivers and re installed. I also deleted the printers
in the registry. The pc has been running the software along with the Epson dx4400
printer without problem for the last year. But the conflict started 2 weeks ago.

Has anybody had a similar problem? He needs to print of his latest newsletter but
he can only start the program with the spooler off but then he cant print.

Because its an obscure file extension he cant open the files with another program.

Anyone got any ideas?

Matt
