Are you aware that the system tray icons are simply defined as "inactive" if you
have not clicked them in a while? What you are seeing may in fact be the correct
operation of this (irritating little) feature which is supposed to "keep your desktop
tidy". This is Microsoft dictating to me what I see on my desktop and I will not
have that! Personally, I do not hide "inactive" icons and thus do not get annoyed
by the behaviour. I want to see all the icons all the time, in the order I set them
