I don't want to be argumentative, we're ultimately talking about the same thing,
but I guess it's a question of semantics. Your question was whether the registry,
AFTER A REBOOT, will "purge itself of problems." And the answer is clearly No.
NOTHING happens after reboot, and the registry doesn't purge anything. It doesn't
look for problems, doesn't find problems, doesn't fix problems. It just (BEFORE
booting) gets rid of the current copy of the registry, in its entirety, whether it
has problems or not, and uses an old one instead. (If I were having car trouble,
I don't think I would consider getting a different car to be the same thing as purging
my car of problems.) Since it's simply replacing one file by another, without examining
either of them, it's not purging anything from the registry - it's going back to
an older version which, you hope, doesn't happen to have the same problems as the
new one. Of course, it might have other, completely different, problems.
