OK So according to Device manager I have 3 Network adapters.
1. Disabled Intel PRO/100E VE network connection.
Well that was exciting. It made no difference - lock up still occurs
(BTW its now 60 secs OK and 60sec locked!)
2. Disable Toshiba Wireless LAN mini PCI card. (Wireless has not been switched on
at any stage)
Progress - Its run for 2 whole minutes without lockup. So I re-enable the Wireless
LAN card at 18:32 and wait.
20 minutes later still no sign of a lockup. So I'll reboot and see what happens.
Interesting - the mouse locked up during the boot process
Screen. Approx 1 minute intervals between disc activity so its back. The periods
of lock up are now the majority of the time. Its taken about 10 minutes from the
password screen to get to a point where I can disable the wireless LAN card.
Finally back in device manager (the 60 sec interval between freeze is back)
Disable Wireless LAN card - problem goes away.
Re-enable Intel LAN card and reboot - and it all works as expected.
OK we have the culprit. Now for the solution.
Will download latest drivers form Toshiba and report back.
But its finally looking hopeful - you may officially class yourself (provisionally!!)
as a superstar!!! :-)
