To answer the first question, I think you may need to log out and back in again to apply the change. The answer to the second question is a bit more involved. Windows remembers how you view each folder that you visit. If you normally want the detail view for most folders (as I do) then you can set this option for the current folder and then apply it to all folders via Tools - Folder Options - View tab. When you visit a folder with pictures in it, change the view to thumbnails and Windows will remember that view for that folder only. Once you have visited each picture folder and changed the view to thumbnails as required, it should still be that way next time you visit. Hope this helps. Cheers. Spexx.
