You do not have to reformat to get rid of Norton, but you do need a special removal tool, available from Symantec. Sorry, I do not have the link to hand but it is easily found with Google. There are known issues with applying SP3 to systems with Norton on them - symptoms can be severe! Google "Symantec SP3 problem" for details. Cheers. Spexx.
