I have a question about How do I skip the Product Activation in Windows XP?:

Approx 1 1/2 yrs ago I purchased a new Compaq Presario laptop with Windows XP installed on it. Just recently I installed SP3 and my husband was deleting some old stuff in an attempt to free up hard driver space. Then out of the blue I start getting a message telling me that my copy of windows is not activated. I fear an important file may have been accidently deleted. Also, I did not receive any operating discs when I bought the computer. Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem?
