Firstly I find it hilarious that I'm replying to a thread started in 2004 and this
issue is still in the wild!
I came in to work today with the same problem, one of my CPU's running flat out,
spotted spoolsv.exe running hot for the past 63.5 hours!
Killed it, but it came back on. I've tried the batch file described here, but it
didn't work.. there is nothing in my windows\system32\spool\printers folder at all
(incl protected files etc).
I can't get to my Printer list any more as explorer won't open unless i kill the
spoolsv.exe, then it loads with a blank list of printers...
I have both Image Writer and Adobe DPF writer installed so it must be one of these
causing the issue I presume.. argh!
Meanwhile i've disabled the Print Spooler service, so I won't be able to print any
more!
