Still, I think they will tell you the same thing. It is very hard to correct an installation error other that using the uninstall operation. When that fails, System Restore, or restore from Backup are the recommendations. Having said that, there some Hot Fixes from Microsoft for specific problems with SP3 issues, but I am not sure that would apply in your case. The issue with SP3 has to do with anti-virus programs.
