Since copy/paste works, the clipboard is obviously fine. I suspect a recently installed
app is affecting the Context Menu Handlers. However, it may be something else. Please
supply information from the following steps (1 and 3):
1. Eliminate protected folders and include all file types. Try this in safe mode
first, then in normal mode...
1a. create new folders c:\a and c:\aa.
1b. drag and drop files of many types (*.txt, *.doc, *.bmp, etc) into one folder.
1c. cut/paste the files (one at a time) to the other folder and try to open them.
2. Create a System Restore point (better yet, get a reliable registry backup using
erunt). Using both backup methods is your best bet. Be sure to read and understand
how to RESTORE before opening the registry:
Erunt: http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/
3. Run regedit and export the branch [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex]. Post that text
back here, the problem might be obvious.
