Well Fern,
I used to be a security guard and worked nights, I now how boring and difficult it
can be to stay awake. I am now working for a large corp. and we do rely on our guards
to maintain security, not just for "the company" but for own personal safety. I
would not feel safe with our guards playing/surfing, when they need to be watching
their assigned area. If I were in your shoes, I would find an acceptable solution
for the downtime, or plan on looking for work elsewhere.
