Forgot to say.
Linux isn't doing better b/c of less marketshare. It's b/c it's security mechanisms
were put in it during the very early stages of development (pre-alpha releases of
what was going to become kernel 1.0), while in windoze security was an after-though,
something put in the surface. Take this analogy. Windoze is like a plywood pre-assembled
house that was put in the ground with a crane (it obviously doesn't have foundations
at all), and have a common front door with just the basic lock and windows with no
locks at all. Linux OTOH is like a hand-built house with very deeply rooted foundations,
thick titanium walls, roof, flooring and doors, there's a very secure alarm and lockdown
system integrated through the walls, windows and front door, the windows are made
of ballistic glass and the frame of titanium, internal power generator, air system
and water supply/recycler. Obviously you can see right away which one of the houses
is harder for a thief to break in.
