It sounds to me like your profile is messed up - that is probably the reason it happened in the first place. I am not an expert, but you may have to create a new windows profile (username and password) and copy all your data to it from an administrator account. A fresh windows install may be necessary - I would get some more expert advice on that. I have had stuff like that happen and everything was all right after I created a new profile and disabled the old. What you did by terminating the process like I said in the post, I am sure, had nothing to do with your problem - something was going wrong before that.
