SMART failure message

A SMART hard disk failure message came up. I replaced the hard drive, and installed Windows XP but the message is still there. I must press F1 to boot up the computer. How can I remove this message, and boot the computer without having to go through this step? It isn't critical, but it is annoying. If I have a problem with the new drive, I would not be notified.
