It is quite possible that you do still have a "disk" problem.
My bet would be the cable - they're fragile, and if that was the cause of the original
error messages then it would still be, of course.
Most disk manufacturers have diagnostics available to download - you can then check
the installation thoroughly and that will confirm whether or not the messages you
are still getting are valid or not (but it probably ywon't help distinguish between
disk and cable issues).
The only way I know to disable the messaging is the SMART setting in your BIOS, but
that too will conceal any "real" failures in future :-(
I don't think you can "reset" the SMART software, which implies that it does still
see a problem.
You might get more help on a hardware forum, though, as your issue really has nothing
to do with XP :-)
