Ok....I did everything everyone said to do....at least, I thought I tried everything
above. This is what ended up working for me.
I went to my Device manager (hold down windows button and hit pause/break)
1.Hardware
2.Device manager
3. View-show hidden devices
4.Open system devices
5. Check to see if there are two plug and play software device enumerators installed
6. If yes, highlight each one while watching the menu bar above. On one of them
you should see a delete button appear (computer with a red x). Delete that device
and yay..sound fixed.
